She’s been there too
For those of you that don’t know me, I have not always been the picture of health. I was born into a wonderful family but came premature and was bottle-fed with poor nutrition for most of my infancy and adolescent life. This left me morbidly obese, mentally unwell, and even wheelchair-bound. I was told my mobility would be limited for the rest of my life. I was sick of being a fat kid and the crippled kid. I tried eating next to nothing, exercising anyway I could, and even participating in unhealthy food behaviors ~ of course, none of this worked. I didn’t truly begin to make changes until the end of high school where I begin to choose what I would go and study in college.
As I became more educated, I began implementing more appropriate tools. As my understanding of the field expanded, I began working with a functional MD who provided insight into gut health, hormonal balance, and the importance of nutrition. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t simply being fed medications and dealing with the side effects. I was being taken off medications and feeling better!
With my education, botanical medicine, and lifestyle changes I have gone from depressed and anxious to proud and grateful; I have gone from morbidly obese to a figure that I am proud of; I have gone from crippled to an athlete! I can honestly say functional nutrition has changed my life and has made me a better person; A person I am proud to be. I truly believe that everyone deserves to be happy in their skin, I’m simply thankful to be part of their journey!
